RYCA biography in Biographies from the artzine on artrepublic.comRYCA’s Star Wars inspired Reservoir Troopers (red) sold out at artrepublic in astonishingly quick time, and in May 2006, thieves broke into artrepublic Brighton and stole this same piece, believing it to be a Banksy. The artist told us he was quite chuffed with the mistake. RYCA is part of London-based art team the Scrawl Collective and takes iconic images from our collective past and puts them into a new context. RYCA has a day job as a sign maker, specialising in 3D pub signs many to be found around his home city of London. He graduated from art school in 2002. He was inspired to create his first print of Ona Islam after visiting the acclaimed London exhibition 'Santa's Ghetto' in 2006.
